Thousands of Christians from across the country united on the National Mall yesterday in our nation’s capital to rededicate America to God. We were privileged to attend and be inspired by the many pastors, musicians, and leaders who came to exalt the name of the Lord and celebrate the founding of our nation.

Organized by Freedom 250, the historic “Rededicate 250” gathering was held May 17. Just before the birth of our nation, the Continental Congress declared May 17, 1776, a national day of “fasting, humiliation, and prayer.”

Sunday’s gathering was focused on these three pillars:

• The Miracles that Made Us

• The Miracles Still in Our Midst

• A New Birth of Faith and Freedom

House Speaker Mike Johnson reflected on the “courage and conviction” of the “56 patriots” who signed the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago, and he boldly rededicated our nation to God.

We were thankful, too, that life was also a theme of the Speaker’s presentation. He said: “Our founders acknowledged and boldly proclaimed the self-evident truth that every single person is created in your image, and that we are endowed by you, our creator, with our unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Speaker Lou Engle also called on everyone present to kneel and repent over the sins of our nation in this “hinge of history moment.” Dutch Sheets, who accompanied Lou Engle, concluded by “saying You are extending Your hand of mercy to this nation. Millions of prayers have been prayed today and for the past 34 years. You have accepted those prayers, and we say today is breakthrough day. Today is reconnection day. Today is re-covenant day. Today is the day that the outpouring of Your Spirit begins in our nation. We declare a new beginning for America in the mighty name of Jesus.”

This past week was also special to Faith & Liberty as our beloved friend and sister in the Lord, Peggy Nienaber, was honored. Wednesday, we attended She Leads D.C. — The Crystal Tea, where Peggy was among several distinguished women and leaders in Congress who were honored with a special award. Faith & Liberty’s Patty Bills, who is Peggy’s twin, accepted the award honoring Peggy. This event also launched She Leads D.C., which was appropriate as Peggy was also a She Leads director along with her role as Faith & Liberty’s senior vice president.

• As noted above, we attended the She Leads D.C. — The Crystal Tea where our friends honored several distinguished ladies and leaders in Congress, and recognized Peggy Nienaber’s faithful work with an honorarium award.

• On Friday, May 15, we were blessed to have a group of intercessors from Liberty Counsel ministries who came to pray for the Faith & Liberty team and ministry on Capitol Hill.

• Last Saturday, prior to the Rededicate 250 gathering on the National Mall, we participated in an evening of prayer and worship. There were multiple events around this historic gathering.

• Faith & Liberty co-hosted a daylong fellowship and prayer gathering on Sunday, May 17, at the Ministry Center with the Judicial Action Group as part of the Rededicate America to God initiative.

• E.J. Kimball, director of Christian Engagement and senior advisor for the Combat Antisemitism Movement, is this month's speaker in the “Why Israel Lunch and Learn Series.” He will speak on “Why Israel Is Under Attack from the Left.” Faith & Liberty is co-hosting this special series with guest speakers at the Ministry Center.

• Our Bible studies in the Ministry Center and in other locations continue strong. We pray that each one who attends takes the Word of God into their daily life and work in D.C.
