Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Nov 18, 2025
In our modern day when most of us are fixated on our phones or running to and fro keeping up with work, family, friends, social media, and an abundance of activities, we understand it’s hard to capture the attention of anyone for long.
That’s one reason why there’s something truly special when the residents of our nation’s capital, visitors and tourists, and interns, staffers, and other government workers see Mary and Joseph and their entourage of elaborately costumed townspeople walking down the streets of Capitol Hill. That’s not to mention one very popular camel, sheep, a donkey, a cow, and any other creatures who may participate this year.
As you know, Faith & Liberty cannot celebrate the gospel on Capitol Hill, advance religious freedom, engage with members of Congress, or encourage staffers and interns without your faithful prayers and gifts! Please prayerfully consider giving to Faith & Liberty for the first time or supporting our ministry with a monthly recurring gift to help us fulfill our unique and vital mission.
And that’s the point of our annual Live Nativity, to capture attention and share the gospel of peace! Our Savior came into this world in a humble way, as a babe born to a virgin girl, yet He was announced and celebrated in a big way — through an angelic messenger, through a leading star in the heavens, and through the singing voices of the heavenly host. Surely we should announce to the world: Our Savior has come! Glory to God in the Highest!
Pray with us that this wonderful event — on Thursday, Dec. 4 — will be noticed on Capitol Hill and beyond. Yes, it takes a lot of preparation. Faith & Liberty’s Patty Bills is a pro at this and has been working on the necessary permits and signing up volunteers to participate. We are thankful that our prayers for this event have been answered, and we have obtained all the permits and volunteers are committing to help. We have also been pulling out the costumes that were created anew last year, and they will beautifully reflect the time in which our Lord and Savior came into this world. We look forward to walking with the live animals on Capitol Hill ending at the U.S. Supreme Court, where there will be a brief presentation of the gospel.
If you are interested in assisting in some way on Dec. 4, please call Patty Bills at 202-737-1776 or email her at [email protected]. Consider signing up to participate yourself or with a friend or with a group from your church. Thank you, most of all for your prayers as the gospel goes forth in our Live Nativity 2025!

Peggy Nienaber and Patty Bills participated in the America250 Civics Education Coalition meeting on Wednesday. Peggy was honored to be asked to open the meeting in prayer. As we finalize our 2026 plans, we’ll be announcing our America250 events, so please be sure to stay up to date through our emails, and we thank you!

Peggy Nienaber, Faith & Liberty's senior vice president, was asked to open the America 250 Coalition meeting in prayer.
Last week, Peggy met and prayed with the Aglow International team. They prayed for upcoming events, for the government to open (and it did, PTL!), and for all the employees whose paychecks were delayed by the extended shutdown.

Patty was on a monthly Zoom call with the National Faith Advisory Board, a national association of churches, ministries, and faith-based organizations. The focus of the meeting was working as a team with other ministries to do God’s work. Patty was asked to share about Faith & Liberty’s work and Ministry Center.
Peggy attended the Lantos Human Rights Prize Ceremony honoring Diane Foley and Rachel Goldberg-Polin, both courageous mothers who became powerful advocates on behalf of the Israeli hostages and their families. This event honored the hostages, their families, and those who fought for their release.

Patty Bills and the Faith & Liberty team held a planning meeting for the upcoming Live Nativity.
We met with the Eagles of Fire Capitol Hill ministry. We will be starting a weekly Intercessory Prayer Night with Eagles of Fire at our Ministry Center.
Last week, Lindsey Cruz and Peggy Nienaber served meals several nights for staffers in need because of the government shutdown.
COMING SOON
Thanksgiving is next Thursday! During the week, many of our regular Bible studies will not be meeting, but since several of the congressional interns and staffers stay here instead of going home, Faith & Liberty will find families for staffers to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with that week.
Peggy Nienaber will be attending an Israel update briefing today.
Thursday, Dec. 4, is the date of our Live Nativity. Patty has been exceptionally busy securing the permits for our Live Nativity presentation of the gospel on Capitol Hill. Final preparations are underway!
Peggy will be participating in the America250 planning luncheons for the White House core programs. We’ll have more information to come regarding “All Things America 2026 — America Celebrates 250 Years.”
The Faith & Liberty team has been working on the Preborn Memorial at the U.S. Supreme Court, which will be held January 22, 2026.
