Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Oct 14, 2025
Last week was chock full of events in which Faith & Liberty had a key part. We have so much good news to report that we’ll have to spread it out over several weeks. We shared a little below but are saving some of the amazing things God did for later emails! For now, though, our attention is on Israel and the historic Middle Eastern peace deal brokered by President Trump.
Many nations came together, and there was an exchange of all surviving and some deceased Israeli hostages and nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. We are immensely grateful to God for the newfound freedom of the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza for two long years since the slaughter of some 1,200 people in the October 7, 2023, massacre! It truly is appropriate to say in response: Hallelujah! All 20 of the surviving hostages and four caskets bearing the remains of those who died in captivity have been released and, we pray, the bodies of the rest will be brought back as well.
As you know, Faith & Liberty cannot stand up for religious freedom, engage with members of Congress, or minister to staffers and interns without your support! Please prayerfully consider giving to Faith & Liberty for the first time or supporting our ministry with a monthly recurring gift to help us fulfill our unique and vital mission.
Two years ago, Peggy Nienaber, our senior vice president, was privileged to attend a prayer gathering with the family members of Israeli hostages. The “Free the Hostages Event of Solidarity” was held at the Museum of the Bible in Washington. During this event, we learned firsthand of the horrific attacks that took place on that tragic day in Israel. One of the people Peggy met at the event and several times thereafter was the brother of hostage Avinatan Or, who, thankfully, is among the survivors released this week! Isolated during his entire captivity and having lost substantial weight due to prolonged starvation, Or was reunited with his girlfriend, also a former hostage, Noa Argamani, upon his release.
Peggy Nienaber met the brother of now-released hostage Avinatan Or on several occasions.
The photos of those killed October 7 are found in the face of the woman on the upper left of Hooman Khalili’s banner hung in Washington, D.C.
Peggy was able to meet with Iranian American artist and activist Hooman Khalili.
The hostages and their families waited 738 days to be reunited. Some prayed to Adonai (Lord) upon their reunion. At Faith & Liberty, we thank the Lord and rejoice with them, and continue to support Israel and stand against antisemitism in America!
