Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

Covering the Capital: Fall Ministry Events

Aug 12, 2025

We’re back from our annual prayer retreat, where we had time to linger in the presence of the Lord and be refreshed in peaceful communion with Him. If you submitted a prayer request, thank you for affording us the opportunity to lift your need or concern to our Heavenly Father.

As you know, we cannot engage in our prayer retreat or any other ministry activity without your support! Please prayerfully consider giving for the first time or continuing to give to help us fulfill our unique and vital mission in the nation’s capital.

August is a quieter month for Faith & Liberty as members of Congress are at home connecting with their constituents. Some of our activities, including most Bible studies, are winding down even as we look forward to the launch of fall events. We recently did a livestream on Facebook sharing about these ministry activities and more, but we'll highlight a few here.

On Saturday, October 11, we’ll be part of Communion America with its mile-long communion table on the National Mall. This has never been done before in our nation’s capital! We invite you to participate by joining Faith & Liberty at our section of this huge table gathering of believers from all 50 states. Our director of strategic partnerships, Patty Bills, is happy to share any details, such as what food to bring, if you’d like to consider participating. Email her at [email protected].

Toward the close of the year, our annual Live Nativity will be held Thursday, December 4. It would be a joy to have you as an individual or your church participate that day or in the run-up to this significant outreach in Washington, D.C.

Before all of that, we are partnering with She Leads America to plan their October summit in our nation’s capital. At the summit, Faith & Liberty will host a Congressional Prayer Breakfast, and during a luncheon, we’ll connect with participants from the U.K. and countries in Africa. We'll be part of a discussion on faith, religious freedom, and the family, and share what we do to sustain these critical pillars of our nation. See more about this event below.

As Rev. Greg Cox, our senior pastor, shared on our livestream, we’re not busy for the sake of busyness. What we engage in is “activity with a purpose,” a purpose that includes transforming lives through the gospel and honoring the name of Jesus — even in Washington’s corridors of power.

“For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name” (Phil. 2:9).

Thank you for standing with us to lift up His mighty name!

MINISTRY RECAP
  • Faith & Liberty’s senior pastor, Rev. Greg Cox, was in Orlando, Florida, last week representing Faith & Liberty and Liberty Counsel at the biennial General Council of the Assemblies of God.
  • It was a privilege to get close to God’s beautiful creation and dedicate much time to pray at our annual prayer retreat last week.
  • Peggy Nienaber met with William Murray, director of the Religious Freedom Coalition. Peggy is the chairwoman of the board for RFC.

  • Faith & Liberty also hosted the Men of Nations prayer meeting last week to kick off their fall prayer event.

COMING SOON
  • Peggy Nienaber will be participating in the International Religious Freedom Roundtable Working Group on Tuesday.

  • The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom will hold a hearing Wednesday as a panel discusses religious freedom issues in Turkey. The new USCIRF Commissioner Vicky Hartzler will lead, and Peggy will participate in the discussion.

  • We’ll enjoy a summer cookout with the interns at our Ministry Center this Tuesday evening.

  • This Saturday is Faith Day 2025 at Nationals Park where Faith & Liberty and some of the congressional interns will take in a Washington Nationals baseball game and an inspiring post-game program.

  • Peggy has planned several upcoming coffee dates to connect with those who work on Capitol Hill for fellowship and prayer.

  • We will open our Ministry Center for a Coffee Day with interns and staffers one Saturday in September.

  • In September, we will host ACSI students and parents, giving the Christian school students a tour of our Ministry Center and sharing the ministry of Faith & Liberty. They will be in the capital on an Association of Christian Schools International trip.

  • September also brings another Capitol Hill Ministries luncheon to engage in what other ministries have planned for this fall.

  • Our team is planning the She Leads America Summit for October 8-11. We will be sponsoring a Congressional Prayer Breakfast for congressional women and will host a Women’s Dignity panel with members of Congress and women who have had challenges in their lives. The group will be praying with women members of Congress and holding briefings at the White House. Also, Rev. Greg Cox will be meeting with the men who support what the women are doing through She Leads America.

  • Peggy Nienaber and Lindsey Cruz will attend the NHCLC Leadership Summit on October 14 here in Washington. The theme of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference summit is “What is of God, always wins.”
