Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Aug 5, 2025
During our annual Prayer Retreat, which we are at now, we are spending time in God’s Word, which informs and inspires our prayers. One of these beautiful passages is Psalm 47:8-9:
“God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.”
On the first day of our retreat, when we were interceding for members of Congress, this scripture reminded us that God is sovereign over all the nations, including America, and He is to be exalted.
Another scripture, Romans 13:1, reminds us that God places our leaders in authority.
“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”
So, we pray for all in authority, and on our first day in prayer, we remembered by name all 435 members of the House and 100 members of the Senate. This is not something that can be done both quickly and meaningfully, but it takes all day. We hope you joined us and remembered your members of Congress in prayer as we requested on our social media video.
We also remembered the staff of the members of Congress and all those who help run the government. While we enjoyed God’s creation in our prayer walks, we know that diligence in prayer takes great effort. Prayer can be both exhausting and invigorating — but it is worth the investment!
Today, we will pray for the Trump administration, the White House, and all the departments. Please join us as you can!
During our retreat, we will also remember your specific prayer requests, and we thank you for sending them. We’ll leave you with the encouragement of 2 Corinthians 1:11:
“You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.”
Thank you!

Patty Bills joined House Chaplain Margaret Kibben and other ministry leaders on a Zoom call last week where Chaplain Kibben gave update on matters under her watch before the August break. All ministries had time to share about their individual outreach.
Peggy and Patty joined via Zoom with the Black Robes, Pastors, and Ministry Leaders on behalf of the National Faith Advisory Board (NFAB) for an Association of Churches monthly meeting with the NFAB board.
This week, Faith & Liberty senior pastor, Rev. Greg Cox, is in Orlando, Florida, representing Faith & Liberty and Liberty Counsel at the biennial General Council of the Assemblies of God.
Faith & Liberty will host the Men of Nations prayer meeting this week to kick off their fall prayer event.
Peggy Nienaber and Lindsey Cruz will attend the NHCLC Leadership Summit on October 14 here in Washington. The theme of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference summit is “What is of God, always wins.”
We are planning another early morning Bible study for those who work on Capitol Hill.
In September, we will host ACSI students and parents, giving the Christian school students a tour of our Ministry Center and sharing the ministry of Faith & Liberty. They will be in the capital on an Association of Christian Schools International trip.
Our team is planning the She Leads America Summit in October. We will be sponsoring a Congressional Prayer Breakfast for congressional women and will host a Women’s Dignity panel with members of Congress and women who have had challenges in their lives. The group will be praying with women members of Congress and holding briefings at the White House. Also, Rev. Greg Cox will be meeting with the men who support what the women are doing through She Leads America.
