Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Apr 7, 2025
In recent weeks, Faith & Liberty has been very active on Capitol Hill — where we are called to be!
LIFE Lobbying Day was significant on the Hill as pro-life organizations flew in representatives from across the nation to lobby for the lives of the preborn — America’s future! Our ministry took time to pray with friends from Liberty Counsel Action for the Lord’s blessing ahead of their visits to congressional offices in support of life.
Also on the Hill, Peggy Nienaber had the privilege of attending the Committee on Foreign Relations Hearing for Mike Huckabee’s confirmation hearing as U.S. ambassador to Israel — which had a few fireworks! Gov. Huckabee took it all in stride, and he has now advanced to the next stage of approval.
We at Faith & Liberty are passionate about furthering God’s agenda in our nation's capital, and we know you stand with us! We value and appreciate your faithful prayers and financial support to keep us on Capitol Hill to further the cause of life, freedom, faith, and family!
Your missionaries in Washington, D.C.,
You form the backbone of Faith & Liberty because of your prayers and financial support. Please also pray about becoming one of our vitally important monthly contributors. Sign up for monthly giving on our website using the DONATE button below and select the option, “I would like to make this a recurring donation.” If you prefer to call, please ask for Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776, and she will gladly assist you. You truly are an important part of our ministry, and we thank you!
Rev. Greg Cox and Peggy Nienaber participated in a Candlelight Prayer Vigil last Tuesday concerning the Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic case before the Supreme Court the following day. This historic case will decide if states can defund Planned Parenthood. Radical pro-abortion protesters made their presence known with one just feet away from our podium aiming to drown out our pro-life prayers.
Peggy opened in prayer at the Hill Ministries Meeting, where friends from multiple ministries who work on the Hill fellowship, pray, and coordinate ministry efforts on Capitol Hill.
Faith & Liberty opened our Ministry Center to enjoy a meal and fellowship time with the interns last weekend.
We also visited with representatives of the Dr. Corinthia Ridgley Boone Foundation, who are granting scholarships to young adults who are passionate about furthering God’s agenda. Dr. Boone, who celebrated her 90th birthday, is a former principal, pastor, and founder of the Capital City National Day of Prayer and the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon.
Today we attended Alveda King’s swearing-in ceremony. A niece of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. King was sworn in as Senior Advisor on Faith and Community Outreach at the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
We continue Lenten season daily walks with staffers on Capitol Hill, completing the 40 days of one mile a day matched with 40 days of a Scripture challenge.
A new women's Bible study is starting on Monday evenings, so we praise the Lord for this additional time and for those who will participate.
The Congressional Bible Reading in the U.S. Capitol will be held Tuesday, April 29, and is still in the planning phase.
The Faith & Liberty team will be meeting and praying with the women of Aglow International.
Planning has started for the week of National Day of Prayer (May 1) has begun. Our team will be participating in Rooftop Prayer, National Day of Prayer Congressional Ceremony, and many other events.
Invitations are being sent to members of Congress to invite them to read at the upcoming Congressional Bible Reading Marathon.
