Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Mar 14, 2022

If you never take a break from the news and you regularly ingest the play-by-play of social media, you could be tempted to question if God is still in charge. Is He still paying attention? What about the mess in the political centers of this world? What about decisions in Washington? What about the war in Ukraine?

But even when it feels like God is absent from the scene, we must remind ourselves to rest on His unchanging Word. We need to remember He is in control no matter what mankind is up to on earth. In fact, we need to get a heavenly perspective.

So, how can we view what’s happening here the same way He views it from above? How do we get His perspective on world events? The answer is from His unchanging Word. Here are just a few of His promises:

“God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne” (Ps. 47:8).

“‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool’” (Acts 7:49a).

“As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him” (Dan. 7:9-10a).

“And immediately I was in the spirit: and behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat upon the throne” (Rev. 4:2).

Yes, friends of Faith & Liberty, the King of all the earth is still on the throne. Be encouraged today!

For the glory of God,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice President

MONDAY RECAP

  • Members of Aglow International came from four different states to pray with and support the ministry of Faith & Liberty. We are thankful for their remembering our ministry before the Lord!
  • Students from Cedarville University Global Outreach visited Capitol Hill last week and met with prominent leaders. They also prayed for Faith & Liberty’s team and our outreach at the Ministry Center. What a privilege that these university students came from Ohio to share the gospel of Jesus Christ right on Capitol Hill! From meeting the U.S. House Chaplain Margaret Grun Kibben to talking with a key leader who works daily in the capital area. This ministry exposure helps them experience what it means to share, learn and spread the Word in the heart of America.
  • Through numerous virtual meetings, the team has been engaged and is making progress on finalizing plans and schedules for the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon, April 30-May 4.
  • Peggy Nienaber had the opportunity to escort Capitol Hill pastors inside the U.S. Capitol building to meet with the Senate Chaplain Barry Black and his staff. We prayed and shared the ministry work we all do on Capitol Hill with Chaplain Black.
  • Some of what we do is never published to protect the rights of members of Congress and the judiciary, congressional staffers and Capitol Hill Police officers. But our team works to meet and pray with many of these people every day whether by phone, in person or when they attend one of our Bible studies. We are here to support them and bring the gospel to each and every one.

COMING SOON
  • The Steering Committee meeting for the International Religious Freedom Summit is scheduled for this week. Peggy is part of the committee, which will be finalizing the plans for Faith & Liberty’s sponsorship and schedules for the IRF Summit, to be held June 28-30.
  • Peggy will also be attending the Capitol Hill Ministry Coalition Prayer Meeting this week to share what we do, pray for other ministries and support each other in the work in Washington.
  • Peggy will share this week with the First Baptist Youth Missionary Team on the many outreach programs and Bible studies we have on Capitol Hill. These young missionaries will visit various congressional offices, volunteer at local pregnancy centers and pray with the Faith & Liberty team. This visit is a great reminder that the next generation will be our leaders in the ministry of the gospel.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Pray for Peggy and other Steering Committee members who are planning for the International Religious Freedom Summit 2022. Pray that anything that needs to be discussed and decided upon will come to light as the committee plans for this significant event that has implications for people of faith around the world.

We're looking for victory in our Supreme Court free speech case on behalf of Hal Shurtleff and Camp Constitution concerning the Christian flag. Our chairman, Mat Staver, argued the case against the City of Boston on January 18. Please stand with us in prayer until the Court announces its decision. Pray also for God’s will to be done regarding the appointment of a new Supreme Court Justice.

Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
